Yes. At 24" it slips over her head with the clasp closed. Then she holds the little gasket and pulls the chain straight through to the length she wants.

I bought this for my mom for mother's day because she's not able to work necklace clasps anymore. She can only wear necklaces that go over her head. This is perfect because she can adjust it shorter or longer depending on her shirt/collar. It's gorgeous and seems very well-made!
